Personal reflections during COVID 19
These past few weeks have been a great shock to me and my family.
From March 13-15, my personal values and values of my family were shaken; the shell of earthly values fell, while the values of eternity were strengthened more firmly. This happened despite the focus on Biblical principles that our family already had.
But from March 16-17, there was a more serious shock in my mind and heart: it was the realization that the whole world was shaking and would never be the same. The world that I knew until March 2020, shook and collapsed.
What was so special about these last weeks that strongly perplexed me and caused a certain numbness of my heart? Why didn't I have that kind of experience during Hurricane Harvey in 2017?
The Bible speaks in details about the Last Days. Now, I only want to touch upon the two characteristics of the last days that have awakened me during this time. The first characteristic is that this time for significant changes in our lives came about suddenly, as if the sneaking thief who was not expected at all. Nothing foretold such fundamental changes. The Bible clearly describes a time that will come suddenly and bring disaster (1 Thessalonians 5:1-4). The second characteristic is that all these changes affected the whole world at once, all nations at one moment. The same situation appears to be everywhere; the whole world is quarantined at once.
On the one hand, I do not want to scare anyone with the concept of “end of times” at such an insecure time, but on the other hand it is reasonable to ask, "Lord, what are you doing? What times have come upon us?” Moreover, it is fair for everyone to know the truth about the events of the end times.
At this time, my soul needs a firm foundation and common sense more than ever. This foundation can be found in the Eternal Word - the Bible. It is the time to pause and get to know God and His ways. During these days, I carefully read and re-read chapters and books of the Bible, which talk about the last times. These are Matthew 24, Luke 21, 1 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, Revelation.
I encourage you to open and read the Bible, which is the eternal word of the Creator of the earth and heaven!
